Chicken Salad, Sweet Tea and Good Company

I believe some of the best decisions in the South happen over good food, in good places with good people.  For so many years, tales have been told of my hilarity and ability to bring people to tears with the stories of my life. I need to explain that these are often "happy tears," the kind that one produces when he/she is laughing so hard that one must just cry.  For the past few weeks, many of the beautiful people in "my tribe" have encouraged me to find a space and a place for all of my adventures. It is a transitional year for Momma Vaughan with my oldest, Taylor, 12 hours away in her first year of college.  It will be no surprise to many that the adventures of my life have just gotten more hilarious with a teenage son, Landon, a CPA husband, Ted and a happy dog, Rocky here beside me in the lone star state!

So it was on a happy Friday afternoon, as I sat across the table from one of my favorite souls on this earth, that I heard the words: "Pretty much everything you put on Facebook is 'blog worthy.'" Here, on a Saturday morning, one day later, sits Momma Vaughan the "blogger."  It is my greatest goal to bring love, laughter and hope to so many.  Most importantly, I pray that I will be able to provide a pocket of peace in your day.  We live in an exhausting world, we move at an exhausting pace, and we oftentimes fail to simply pause.  Blogging, for Momma Vaughan, will be an exercise in "practicing the pause."  Finally, blogging will provide me with a place to share some of the writings I have done for the spiritual formation blog at THE BEST CHURCH IN ALL OF TEXAS, the First United Methodist Church of Grapevine:  http://www.fumcg.org/blog  Yep...you will learn along this journey that Momma Vaughan REALLY needs Jesus! As this day moves forward, I am thankful for sweet tea, a chicken salad sandwich and a beautiful soul who "planted a seed" in Momma Vaughan's heart.  Be blessed in this day that the Lord has made!
